Pesticide Exposure Linked to Increase in Childhood Cancers

Pesticide exposure can pose dangerous health risks for children.  Exposure to multiple pesticides can cause childhood and adolescent cancers of varying forms but often brain and central nervous system tumors.  Hmmm… why do you think that could happen?

To begin with, most pesticides on the market today are in a class called Neuro-Toxins.  That means their form of ‘killing’ is by poisoning, hampering, compromising, etc. the neurological systems of targeted pests.  These pesticides attack the ‘brains’ or nervous systems of bugs.

If a growing child is exposed to these brain-damaging chemicals over and over, (often not even knowing it!), but nonetheless a barrage of chemical toxins in the food, in the air, on the ground, etc. – what might happen to these poor kids?  You got it – brain and central nervous system cancers.

Researchers at the University of Nebraska Medical Center have released a study concluding, “High exposure to multiple pesticides may cause childhood and adolescent cancers, especially brain and central nervous system (CNS) tumors.”

Nebraska has among the highest rates of childhood cancer in the United States, hence the study.  These researchers determined that just a 10% increase of pesticide exposure increased Brain and other Central Nervous System cancers by 36%.  A ten percent increase in exposure is walking into a room recently after pesticides have been sprayed a mere 4 times in a year.  Which translates to a thirty-six percent likelihood to develop cancer?!

Pesticide studies in the past have focused on the effects of exposure to only one chemical pesticide.  This University of Nebraska Medical Center study is the first to estimate the combined effects of multiple pesticide exposures.  And in other cheery news, early-life pesticide exposure has been linked to lower cognitive function, adverse birth outcomes and behavioral issues.

Pesticides spread through air, water, and soil.  And they infiltrate our food supply.  The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) states that children are in a unique exposure vulnerability because they are developing and growing.  It is very difficult (without certifiable organic food) to avoid pesticides in our food supply.  And little kids are particularly vulnerable to exposure because they play on the floor that has been doused in colorless, odorless, and tasteless pesticides… and they crawl around and put their pesticide-laden fists in their mouths.

Toxic chemical pesticides are not okay!  We need to protect our children and stop the madness of using synthetic, poisonous pesticides in their midst. All natural pesticides work and are not dangerous.

Which is why we created Greenbug.  Greenbug offers effective alternatives to toxic, harsh, chemical pesticides.  Clearly, using traditional pesticides is harming those we love so, stop it!  There is no reason to use anything other than a safe, effective product straight from Nature herself.

Our children are depending on it!
