Golf is synonymous with being outdoors and anytime you are outside, there is the possibility of bugs. To combat these annoyances, solutions can range from green and natural pest control all the way to toxic, synthetic chemicals such as Deet, Permethrin or Picaridin. From a PGA perspective, what is the best offering for golfers and what affects the decision?

To find out, we ask David Wilding who is the PGA Director of Golf at The Golf Club at Hilton Head Lakes. A popular course for locals and tourists alike, Hilton Head Lakes is the Lowcountry’s newest 18 hole golf course. Known for its expansive fairways, it is playable for all golfing abilities from novice to scratch golfers. That presents a wide variety of guests to accommodate as they wade through all sorts of pest offerings that can distract even the best golf game. Not only does this area produce some pretty hefty mosquitoes, but the no-see-ems in the Lowcountry can carry you away!

After researching all his options, David chose Greenbug for People to offer his guests. “I decided to go with Greenbug,” David states, “because it is completely safe.” Avid golfers can apply a lot of product over time to their skin and offering a product that works and is known to be safe is the best possible option.

And just how safe is Greenbug? Well, according to the EPA, Greenbug ingredients are proven safe and offer no threat whatsoever to humans, animals or the environment. That means no toxins or poisons so the focus can be on the golf game and not the pests.

As for those who golf at Hilton Head Lakes, “The Greenbug has been overwhelmingly successful” adds David. “My guests like the feel of the product and the clean, natural smell. And as an added bonus, you can use it safely in other areas – on furniture, on pets, and in carpet. If has been a good decision to offer Greenbug.”

So not only is Greenbug for People safe, but it WORKS! And for those who play a lot of golf like PGA Professionals, safely eliminating distractions is a very good thing.

According to Virginia A. Rauh of the Columbia University Center for Children’s Environmental Health in New York City, she and her colleagues discovered that developing brains exposed to a widely used, common pesticide were irreversibly damaged. Prenatal exposure to CPF or chlorpyrifos, caused structural changes in the brains of developing fetuses. These irreversible alterations affect cognitive ability, social cognition, critical thinking and motor development. There were pronounced learning disabilities and depressed I.Q.s.

“Our findings indicate that prenatal CPF [chlorpyrifos] exposure, at levels observed with routine (nonoccupational) use and below the threshold for any signs of acute exposure, has a measurable effect on brain structure,” they wrote.
The use of CPF was widespread until the EPA banned it for residential use beginning in 2001. However, it is still widely used in Agriculture with heaviest use on crops such as cotton, almonds, and fruit trees including citrus and apples. It was packaged and sold to the public under the trade names of Dursban, Lorsban, Scout, Piridane, Stipend and Tricel.
These studies monitored brain structure over a period of time for children with minor, intermediate and heavy exposure and the scientists found irreversible problems in the brains that affected areas:
•	Involved in social cognition
•	That subserve attention and language comprehension
•	Involved in sensory and motor processing
•	Supporting executive functioning

The levels of exposure were all within acceptable, ‘safe’ levels according to EPA guidelines. Clearly, this study illustrates that the EPA guidelines are not strict enough! And even scarier is the fact that the ‘high-exposure’ group had chlorpyrifos levels of 4.39 pg/g or greater in their umbilical cord blood… which was not unusually high given that the concentration in one blood bank during the same time period was twice as high at an average of 9 pg/g. That means the ‘high exposure’ group had less than half the levels in their bloodstream than what the normal population had during the same time period!

So in a nutshell, toxic chemicals are being used on our food supply and we are ingesting these synthetic poisons and they are now part of our being. These toxins are in our blood, coursing through our vital organs, and being passed on in concentrated levels into our offspring. We are unknowingly being poisoned and unknowingly poisoning our children.

Great.

The lesson in all of this? Take your own safety into your hands! Do not use synthetic, chemical pesticides as they are not natural substances and the long term affects range from unclear to disastrous. Here is an example of short to mid-term affects that is devastating and it is but one of many classes of chemical pesticides being used everyday in our food supply, in our schools, in public venues, and just about everywhere we go. Just because some agency or product label says something is okay, do not blindly follow. A chemical pesticide is a pesticide – it is created to kill something so make sure that something isn’t you!

Greenbug is a safe, natural, and effective solution. Nature has provided the ingredient of cedar and Greenbug has captured it in products that can successfully kill and repel pests you do not want yet cause no harm to humans, animals and the environment. Greenbug is the ‘green’ way to wipe out bugs!

Why would you use anything else?

Pests are bothersome, annoying and potentially dangerous creatures that you do not want in your home. Current events are all about bed bugs but let’s not dismiss the ongoing run-of-the-mill everyday battles with ants, stink bugs, roaches, silverfish, etc.

However there is a growing pest problem so small that you can’t even see it. People who have this pest feel strange crawling and biting sensations and there is no evidence of a bug on their bodies. Doctors tell them ‘it’s all in your head’ which further exacerbates their frustrations. Imagine invisible bugs crawling on your body, feeling their bites and then having no one believe you?

This phenomenon has been dubbed Invisible Bug Biting Syndrome, or IBBS, by Richard “The Bugman” Fagerlund who is one of the country’s leading experts on Natural Pest Control and noted columnist of “Ask the Bugman”. Richard has seen this situation many times and the frequency is growing. What used to be one or two inquiries a month has grown to more than 3 inquiries about it each week. He realized a while back this situation deserved a title all its own and began the task of solving it.

The letters and e-mails from people all have common threads of frustration, desperation, and hopelessness having been to multiple sources looking for help. Pest Control companies have been called in yet say they can’t see a pest. Dermatologists throw up their hands as they cannot see a pest.

So what is it? Well, many thanks to the investigative skills of Richard Fagerlund as well as his compassion for those suffering as the cause of many cases of IBBS have been solved. In a word – Mites.

Mites. Really? We’ve all heard of mites – typically in terms of Dust Mites and yes, we all know they are microscopic. But the sensations of biting and crawling don’t apply. And this isn’t spider mites, the tiny red dots that infect conifers. No we are talking about parasitic mites that typically live on other animals and feed on humans as a last resort.

Rat Mites or Bird Mites in particular are common causes of IBBS. Let’s say you have birds nesting in the eaves of your house or rats that take up residence inside your crawl space. These animals carry mites. As the Homeowner, you take action to get rid of these animals or for some reason they leave. Unfortunately for you, the mites stayed behind and are now hungry for blood.

It takes a while for an infestation to get to the level of IBBS but then again, it is an invisible, growing menace no one can see so how can you tell it exists much less that it is getting worse? The only true way to accurately diagnose these mites is to use scotch tape and dab it against skin when the sensation of crawling and biting is occurring. Then that tape must be looked at under a strong microscope. Don’t even think about a magnifying glass or even your average run-of-the-mill microscope will do. No, these mites are exceptionally small and need a high-powered lens just to be able to see them. And sorry to be a little gross here to illustrate, but the scotch tape viewed under a decent microscope can reveal a very high volume of mites and to think it is only one small area of the skin…

But here is the good news – IBBS is easily treated and the treatment is perfectly safe! Greenbug for People will wipe these IBBS babies out like flipping a switch. It is the exact same directions and protocol for treating bed bugs which requires using a fogger in order to penetrate all the nooks and crannies of an infested home. But it is easy enough for a homeowner to do and is completely non-toxic. Greenbug offers an all natural, completely safe AND effective solution to this problem!

And just in case an exterminator decides to treat for some unseen pest (which is illegal by the way as you cannot apply registered pesticides unless you have a specific targeted pest) but in the event that an IBBS sufferer is taken seriously to the point of receiving an application of synthetic pesticide – it won’t work. Mites have developed pesticide resistance to all but the very strongest and most lethal chemical pesticides available for use. In other words, the use of synthetic chemical pesticides will do nothing but put poison in your home.

So many thanks to the research of Richard “The Bugman” Fagerlund and now thanks to the harnessing of Nature’s greatest pest-fighting substance by Greenbug; those who suffer from unexplained sensations of biting and crawling pests can be heard and a solution found. So no, it’s not “all in your head”. IBBS is real and the frustrations and desperation it causes are now recognized and control is available.

Why should we be concerned with pesticides? Aren’t there plenty of checks and balances in place to make sure the public is safe from harm? With the processes companies go through with Research and Development plus registration with the government, do we really need the additional burden of further research when we have so many other things to worry about?

If the public knew the scientific history of pesticides along with the powerful political and economic battles raged surrounding them, Americans would be aghast. The truth about these toxic chemicals is shocking yet these liquid, granular and powdered poisons lurk everywhere. In the air we breathe, in the products we use and in the food we eat. Not only are these contaminants incredibly toxic but the scariest part is they are pervasive to the point that it is almost impossible to completely avoid them. And the worst part is that the motivation for all this toxicity is monetary.

First of all, a brief history of pesticides… Man has been fighting against bugs since time began in the form of personal comfort (bed bugs, mosquitoes, etc.) and for destructive capabilities (crop damage, termites, etc.). Early preventive measures against insects included using plants and herbs for repellency and began to transform once Man discovered chemicals. The greatest shift in pesticides came after the engineering and scientific explosion of information generated during World War II when nerve gas was perfected.

Most synthetic pesticides on the market today are based on post war nerve gas technology. Scientists discovered that certain chemicals affect brain function and are therefore referred to as neuro-toxins. The affects can be immediate death, targeted to specific functions like digestion or reproduction to cause eventual death, or they can be slow, long term affects on a cellular level that manifest over a period of time.

Because these neuro-toxins are synthetic, human bodies are not able to metabolize them. These substances enter a human body either through digestion, absorption or inhalation and remain in the body just like plastic will sit for centuries in a landfill. The human body does not have the capability to excrete them as they are not a natural substance so they accumulate in our tissues, in our cells, and in our organs. A natural pest control product would not behave this way.

So how exactly are we exposed to these chemical toxins? In an average day, Americans are bombarded with pesticides – often unknowingly. Pest Control Operators apply odorless, colorless pesticides in public spaces like office buildings, schools, malls, theaters, grocery stores, etc. on an ongoing basis. As an example, your child’s school could have been treated in the early morning hours to make sure there is adequate drying time and then your son or daughter sits on the floor during circle time wallowing in the odorless fumes of pesticides. A natural pest control product would not be a problem.

The food we eat is full of pesticides. The most recent figures show that in the United States, more than 877 billion pounds of pesticides were used on crops in 2007 which represents almost 3000 pounds of pesticide per person. These pesticides are NOT just applied to the outer skin of crops which can be washed off – they are often put in the soil which then enters plants through the roots and becomes systemic meaning the pesticide is now inherent in the structure of the plant. You cannot wash that away! Unless you buy strictly organic, you are eating these pesticides yet there are plenty of natural pest control options to choose from – which are organic.

What is causing this madness? In a word – money.

Obviously a farmer wants to increase crop yield so using pesticides can help make that happen. In theory, there is nothing wrong with a businessman trying to increase profits and I do not fault a Farmer from doing what he or she is assured is the best solution. But here is where this changes from ‘providing for your family’ to just plain wrong…

Farmers are smart people educated in the functions of farming which takes a great deal to balance well. Soil conditions, weather patterns, planting, harvesting, pests, weeds, crop rotation, micro-nutrients, and irrigation are just a sampling of what a farmer must juggle to take a seed to harvest. Each of these areas is broad and complex and produces a multitude of consultants and experts that Farmers rely on for the latest in technology and research. When a chemical company produces the latest, greatest, strongest and most capable pesticide for less money requiring fewer applications, a Farmer will be pleased. The Farmer improves crop yield and the chemical company sells more product. Everyone is happy, right?

Not so fast… What about the long term? What does this pesticide do to the crop that absorbs these toxins through the roots to infiltrate the cells of the fruit? What happens to the soil that is infiltrated with these synthetic chemicals that may take hundreds of years to breakdown? What about the unsuspecting parents buying this fruit and feeding it to their children who then ingest the pesticides to be stored in their tiny little bodies forever?

Well the long term IS manifesting itself in the form of disease – neurological based diseases such as Autism, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s; and degenerative diseases such as Cancer, Heart Disease, and Diabetes. Birth Defects, Learning Disabilities, Depression and other Mental Health issues are all indisputably linked to pesticides. One of the most obvious cause and effect stories of pesticides and their potential damage is quite recent – the Department of Defense has admitted ‘The Gulf War illness is tied directly to the use of chemicals including pesticides’.

And now for the scariest truth about pesticides – they generate obscene profits which in turn buy enormous political influence which then protects the industry from scrutiny.

Political power for the wealthy is nothing new nor is it solely a problem in the world of chemical pesticides. However, we are dealing with the general public health which in the minds of many elevates the responsibility of government agencies to act wisely. To assume that government regulation means something is safe is incredibly naïve. Big chemical companies have enormous clout as well as extremely deep pockets to absorb any fines or fees associated with minor misdeeds like falsified data. Examples are numerous and the trend continues.

So should we be concerned about pesticides? ABSOLUTELY!!! And what is a Regular Joe to do about these pervasive poisons?

For starters, use Greenbug all natural pest control products for all your pest issues. They are completely safe, food-grade, can be used on newborns and they WORK!!! Using Nature’s ingredients, Greenbug solves all the pest issues without toxic, synthetic chemicals. Why use anything else when something that is safe does the job?

Beyond that, get educated and demand answers. When and what do they spray at your child’s school? Is there a safe, natural alternative? (Perhaps they do not know about Greenbug!) Is this organic or conventional produce? What are the ingredients in this product I am buying? And most of all – spread the word. An educated consumer is a powerful force to reckon with – and your future and that of your children depends on it!

According to a report published in the Wall Street Journal, a national survey of Gardeners asked the question, ‘What is the most essential gardening product or tool for Gardeners?’ Their answer was a tie between a shovel, and insect control.

When delving into insect control, opinions were sought comparing natural products and synthetic chemicals. For the first time in modern history, the respondents stated that natural insect control was just as good if not better than synthetic chemicals.

Well tie me to a whipping post and beat me with spaghetti! In the time that I have been selling Greenbug – the spectacular, all natural, unbelievably effective pest control products developed using Nature’s power of cedar – the most common obstacle I hear from would be sellers, users and perpetual victims of pests is “Well, I’m sure its fine but if it is natural, then surely it doesn’t work.”

What?! As though anything can improve upon Nature?

Man made chemical insecticides, also known as synthetic poisons, are all based on nerve gas technology left over from World War II. These were intentionally created to disrupt, mar, compromise, or somehow render useless the neurological function of victims. So here’s a great idea – let’s take these same murderous substances and use them in and around our homes, in our schools, on our bodies, in the air we breathe, etc. so we can get rid of bugs! Yeah – that’s it! We can use these poisons at “low” levels – surely no harm will come of that, right?

So 65 years later after these toxins reached our shores, we have incredibly high rates of Autism, Alzheimer’s, Cancer, Diabetes, Heart Disease, etc. but need I go on? Every one of these diseases is indisputably linked to synthetic pesticide use so there is no way they can even remotely be considered safe.

But back to these brilliant, green minded Gardeners… These people know that natural pest control solutions are not only good – they can be better than whatever is cooked up in a lab. Greenbug uses Nature’s ingredients and is safe enough to be EPA exempt. Greenbug is the ‘green’ way to wipe out bugs!

Hopefully, this mindset is indicative of the future and these Gardeners will lead the way to shifting public opinion back to green insect control and away from toxic insecticides. Because taking care of the environment and using natural pest control from here forward is absolutely essential – even more so than a shovel.

Mosquitoes infected with Dengue Fever transform to Mutant Disease Spreaders. According to researchers at none other than Johns Hopkins (off the charts street cred here), when mosquitoes are infected with Dengue Fever, their sense of smell heightens to make them a stealthier, more adept predator. On top of that, it makes them hungrier so they find victims easily with a vengeance.

This is not your ordinary mosquito. Sounds more like Science Fiction if a disease has the ability to mutate the basic senses (sense of smell and hunger) of an infected host creature to be better skilled at spreading that disease.

Should we be afraid?

Well, Dengue Fever doesn’t quite have the same familiar ring to it that West Nile Virus does when it comes to associating mosquitoes to disease. Is this something we can conveniently ignore? Nope, sorry!

Dengue infests as many as 100 million people every year and is the number one cause of mosquito related deaths. Yep – even more than Malaria which we’ve all heard about. West Nile Virus is hardly a blip on the radar in comparison. Granted, Dengue Fever hangs out mostly in the tropics but guess what? We had a really warm, mild winter and these blood sucking mutants are slowly creeping up beyond their latitudinal benchmarks.

I don’t recall hearing anything about West Nile Virus when I was a child. Well, no kidding since it wasn’t even a remote possibility in the safety of the United States. It was reserved for the poor, hot, nether regions of the tropics. And what is it they say about history repeating itself?

The likelihood of Dengue Fever moving up into the United Sates is as likely as the steady march of Fire Ants only faster since these babies fly. And the nature of the beast is to be a skilled hunter desperately in search of human prey.

When it comes to treatment, according to the CDC, the preferred method of treatment for Dengue Fever is to prevent getting bitten by mosquitoes. You can’t vaccinate against it and you can only alleviate symptoms and hope they don’t get too bad. This is like a box score of Dengue Fever 100, Human Race 0.

So how do you prevent mosquito bites? The regular suggestions of eliminating standing water, avoid outdoors at dawn and dusk, wear light-colored clothing, blah, blah, blah. One common misinformation making the rounds is to use DEET but that is insane! Using DEET is like intentionally drinking poison – it is a strong neuro-toxin the human body absorbs at alarming rates and is well documented to cause a host of health issues. Telling people to use DEET is REALLY bad advice!

So use Greenbug! Greenbug for People can be used on humans and Greenbug for Outdoors can eliminate them from your yard and other outdoor areas. It works, it is safe and it is the ‘green’ way to wipe out bugs. Green pest control at its finest!

Nature has provided us with ingredients to kill and repel mosquitoes and Greenbug has harnessed them in an easy to use spray form. Greenbug offers safe, green and natural pest control products for people, pets, indoors and outdoors. By using Greenbug, you can avoid the Mutant Disease Spreading Mosquitoes to eliminate the worry of Dengue Fever, West Nile Virus plus any other new disease breeding in the tropics coming soon to a back yard near you!

I don’t think anyone relishes the thought of a mosquito or a bed bug sucking their blood. That firmly places those despicable creatures into the ‘annoying pest’ category. But not all bugs are ‘pests’ and the vast majority of toxic, synthetic pesticides can’t tell the difference.

Using Greenbug helps save the beneficial creatures we rely on. Rather than widespread destruction, Greenbug is targeted pest control that attacks the bad guys that carry disease, cause human suffering, destroy crops, etc. Greenbug is green pest control that protects the good guys in the process of taking out the bad guys.

In comparison, synthetic pesticides are non-selective which means they will kill a butterfly just as readily as kill a flea. Wipe out a honey bee just like a mosquito. They do not ‘select’ what will die – they just indiscriminately kill everything they come into contact with. So when municipalities and services come through your neighborhood with the death spray for mosquitoes – it isn’t just mosquitoes being killed. Beneficial creatures die too.

Not all insects are ‘pests’ and killing beneficial creatures – such as honey bees – is an environmental disaster! These helpful insects are what keep our world ticking and if they get wiped out; the ecological imbalance would cause irreversible havoc.

Think about honey bees – sure we all love a good tasting honey, but bees mean far more than honey. They are the pollinators. Where would we be without pollinators?

Our entire food source is dependent on pollinators from all the fruits and vegetables we consume to the grain and produce for our livestock. Think of how much corn humans eat and then multiply that by a gazillion to figure out how much corn is fed to cows and chickens to produce all the milk, dairy, eggs, chicken and beef we eat everyday. Wheat is another example – sure we have wheat for our bread, but what about all the crackers, buns, biscuits, pasta, pizza dough and desserts produced and eaten each day across the world? Then there are oats – not only oatmeal but two other huge consumers of oats are all the world’s horses and even bigger than that – all the beer manufacturers!

Get the idea? Our entire existence is dependent upon honey bees and what they do for us. To consider them ‘collateral damage’ in the fruitless effort to wipe out mosquitoes is as short sighted and damaging as can be.

If all the honey bees in the world were suddenly extinct due to overuse of synthetic pesticides, the entire world would starve. Even with all the scientific know how and advancements made in our world, there is absolutely no way humans could accomplish what pollinators do. Pollinators are the great cog in the wheel of survival that we cannot ignore.

So the next time you have a true ‘pest’, make sure the solution is Greenbug – a ‘selective’ pesticide that kills the targeted pest and not beneficial creatures. Choosing Greenbug helps save the good guys – humans included.

Here we are in what the calendar calls late winter and already the bugs are amazing! Well, amazing may not be the best adjective – perhaps insanely annoying is a better description. The bugs will be a nightmare this year so what are we to do? The best solution is Greenbug – natural pest control!

A major exterminator states their calls for ants this year are up 30% over this same time last year. University Extension Offices are putting out warnings that this will be a banner year for pests. Multiple articles are all stating the same thing – 2012 is the Year of The Bugs! Why is that?

Pests need a variety of circumstances in order to breed. Obviously they need food, water and nesting sites but pests seem to make do with those necessities every year. But what makes one year a banner year for bugs and another below average? Why does one year have the worst mosquitoes and another year terrible ticks? And why is 2012 slated to be terrible for all of the above?

It all boils down to weather. Yes, the weather. That means temperatures and precipitation. If it doesn’t get very cold in the winter, the eggs, larva and pupae are able to withstand the relative cold to come out in brute force the following spring. So heavy frosts kill future bugs and the absence of frosts makes for many more pests.

The other issue is precipitation. Snow does not yield a lot of bugs but rain certainly does. The wetter the season, the happier the insects are to multiply and go forth and conquer victims. The only good thing about a drought is it cuts down on the bug population. So ample rain means lots of bugs to hatch and make us miserable.

Either temperature or rainfall make a difference but then when they are both favorable – well you now are looking at the spring and summer of 2012. Standing water, moist soil, warmer than normal temperatures… Think of it this way – wouldn’t you like to be an ant, termite or mosquito living in those conditions?

Now for the solution to this – natural pest control. Natural pest control can be action as well as products. As for action – eliminate all standing water and prune shrubbery away from the house. These two actions will do wonders for controlling pests naturally.

As for products, Greenbug is safe, natural, effective and eco-friendly pest control that knows no equals! Greenbug works great and is safe enough to drink – what an amazing natural and green combination! Greenbug for People wipes out mosquitoes, no-see-ems and ticks and Greenbug for Indoors takes care of termites, ants, fleas, etc.

The active ingredient is cedar – just like cedar chests and closets where you never see a bug. That is because cedar is DEADLY to pests yet harmless to humans, animals and the environment. Bingo – natural pest control!

After all, 2012 is The Year of The Bugs! So will you be victimized by no-see-ems, fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, termites and ants? NO! Because you have the ultimate natural pest control solution … Greenbug!

Ever wonder why mosquitoes like you? If you have particularly smelly feet, they should love you. But that isn’t the only reason as these annoying blood suckers like all of us for different reasons and it is all based on smell. And if you really don’t care why they like you but want to simply avoid them, click here.

According to researchers at Vanderbilt University, mosquitoes have hundreds of extra sensitive hair-like smell receptors on their antennae which give them the ability to ‘smell’ their human prey from great distances. Not only are they attracted to the carbon dioxide we exhale but humans, unlike other species, produce ammonia in our foot odor and lactic acid through our sweat. Our sweat is kind of like a mosquito magnet and the combination of compounds we emit offers up an irresistible All-You-Can-Eat Buffet for a hungry, blood-thirsty parasite.

In particular, they really like the ammonia emitted by smelly feet which may explain all the bites around the ankles…

Of course only females feed on humans. They need a blood meal in order to reproduce so if you happen to kill a mosquito in mid-meal and displace a messy splash of your own blood in the violent explosion, you have absolutely killed a female. Although you may have the annoying after-effect of an ugly, itchy welt, you can at least be satisfied knowing you’ve saved the world from a few hundred future mosquitoes.

So what is the significance of knowing that mosquitoes have exceptionally sensitive smellers? The key is to mask the odors they like or to find something that is a repellent stronger than the lure of the unmistakable human odors. Either trick them or force them away with something so offensive, that they won’t think of getting through it. Is this Science Fiction?

NO! We already have the ability to repel mosquitoes as well as cover up the tantalizing human aroma. So what are we waiting for?

First step is to have a complete shift in thinking about mosquitoes and throw out the mindset that synthetic chemical pesticides are the answer. They are not! These only work for a short period of time and in the hope of continuing effectiveness, the manufacturers crank up the toxicity level to the point where they are more lethal to humans and the environment but are less effective on pests. Synthetic chemical pesticides are not a viable solution for mosquitoes.

Second step is to look for safe, green and natural options. The truth is, Nature has all the checks and balances that we would ever need so it is just a matter of plugging into Nature and using her solutions rather than man-made concoctions. So what is deadly to mosquitoes but harmless to humans, animals and the rest of the environment?

Greenbug because it uses the essential oil of cedar for safe pest control! Greenbug is the ‘green’ way to wipe out bugs! Get your Mosquito Solutions – here

Think about cedar chests and closets where you never see a bug… Cedar has been used for centuries for safe pest control and that is because cedar is deadly to pests. Bingo! Greenbug for People can be used directly on you and the Greenbug for Outdoors can be used to create a mosquito-free outdoor space. Greenbug works!

So Greenbug masks the scent of humans AND it repels mosquitoes since to them it is the scent of death. It is natural, totally ‘green’, has no side effects and is harmless to all things we hold dear. A convenient and safe pest control that allows you to be invisible to mosquitoes.

Even if you have smelly feet!

Bed bug news is typically bad – somewhere has an infestation and they can’t get rid of it. Schools seem especially vulnerable right now. We’ve been successfully killing bugs for decades yet this parasitic monster is really putting up a fight.

What do most ‘professional’ companies use? There seems to be such a problem in treating them so what gives? Here is the lowdown on the most common pesticides in the war against bed bugs. If you want to get straight to the solution, click here.

The first line of defense to exterminate bed bugs is synthetic Pyrethroids. These are man-made chemicals patterned after Pyrethrum which is a non-selective pesticide made from the petals of dried chrysanthemum flowers. In layman’s terms, if you crush a large amount of chrysanthemum flowers and form a powder, it would make a poison called Pyrethrum which kills all sorts of pests. It is non-selective which means it kills everything and doesn’t care if it kills a bed bug or a butterfly, a roach or a dog.

But in order to make a lot of Pyrethrum, you need an enormous amount of chrysanthemums. It would take more flowers than is feasible so the scientists came up with cheaper-to-produce synthetic forms which are called Pyrethroids. That means there are now a variety of fake, chemical Pyrethroids which gives even more opportunity to kill bed bugs. Is that a good or a bad thing?

Well, synthetic pesticides may be cheap to produce and they may work like the real deal they are patterned after for a while, but then this really weird event happens… called Pesticide Resistance. Whenever a pest population is exposed to a particular pesticide, a certain percentage of the pest survives – and they pass that ability to survive onto their offspring. After a few generations, the entire pest population is immune to the pesticide and it no longer works.

The solution to Pesticide Resistance is to use stronger, more lethal synthetic chemicals but the same thing keeps happening. Because of Pesticide Resistance, the chemicals available on the market today to kill bugs in general are up to 1000 times stronger today than they were just 10 years ago!

But we still have bed bugs… and there are strains of bed bugs in the United States that are now resistant to every single Pyrethroid product available to kill them.

The picture is getting a little clearer. The problem treating bed bugs is they’ve become Super Bugs – immune to the products available to kill them. And here is the kicker – even if we were to be foolish enough to bring back DDT, bed bugs are also resistant to that!

What can we do? The options at this point are heat and natural products. Heat definitely kills bed bugs but it can also ruin about everything you own. It melts televisions and destroys artwork and furniture. Besides that, it is only a reactive control – there is no preventive measure in heat.

What about natural products like Greenbug for People which is made with cedar? Good news here is that the bed bugs can’t become immune. And Greenbug provides preventive measures to repel bed bugs so you don’t get them in the first place.

Why isn’t Greenbug used by professionals everywhere? A reasonable question with no good answer except a prevailing mindset is “the stronger the chemical, the better” or even more astounding is, “If it is natural, it doesn’t work.” WHAT?!

Instead, we need a shift in the collective mindset: natural products work in the fight against bed bugs. Natural products cannot lose their effectiveness plus they can prevent and treat the problem. So how are bed bugs controlled?

Synthetic vs. Natural, Toxic vs. Safe, Nightmare vs. Solution – is there really a debate?

Here is your natural, safe solution for bed bugs.
