Greenbug Bed Bugs

Some people have allergic reactions to the anesthetic that presents itself 10 days to 2 weeks after bed bug interaction, therefore, is often misdiagnosed. Bed bugs are small, flat, dark reddish brown about the size of a grain of uncooked rice. They hide along the seams of mattresses, the undersides of furniture, headboards, or artwork, or anywhere there is a hiding place from light.

    Greenbug for People – Amount determined by area being treated. One quart will treat approximately 300 – 500 square feet.

    Greenbug for Indoors - Ready to Use or Concentrate for laundry if necessary.

    Lightweight, non-thermal fogger or hand held sprayer with the finest spray mist possible.

    Respirator when using fogger (due to the heavy concentration of fog).

    Protective goggles when using fogger.

Inspect all possible hiding areas – under furniture, behind artwork, electrical outlets, etc. and position everything for maximum exposure for treatment. Inspect stuffed toys, piles of clothing, travel bags, etc. – the greater the clutter, the more likely bed bugs are in deep hiding. Vacuum thoroughly after spritzing some Greenbug for People into the hose, canister and/or bag to kill any adults, eggs or larva that may enter the vacuum cleaner.

If needed, remove the protective under cloth from box springs in order to treat the interior. Wash all linens and clothing in the hottest water possible adding a teaspoon of Greenbug for Indoors Concentrate or a 1/2 cup of Greenbug for Indoors Ready to Use to the load. This infuses the linens with cedar aroma for further repellency.

Fogger – The most effective application by far is to use a fogger placed on the finest mist possible used in conjunction with a respirator and goggles. Prior to treatment, turn off smoke alarms and alert security system monitorings as the mist can trigger smoke alarms. Beginning at the far side of a room, aim the fogger directly at actual and potential hiding spots (electrical outlets, along floor boards, under furniture, behind artwork, around door jambs and windowsills, etc.) making sure the mist penetrates thoroughly. Pry fabric apart, blast up under and into upholstered furniture, fog all nooks and crannies as you move your way out of the room. For any product left in the fogger, centrally place it on the floor to continue until empty and there is a dense fog in the room.

Adult bed bugs will be dead within one minute of exposure and the remaining fog will penetrate into hiding spaces to kill eggs and larva of the next generations. Allow the fog to penetrate a minimum of 4 hours to overnight (preferable). In the event of a shorter fog penetration time, you may air out the room by running the HVAC or opening windows if needed (the fumes and/or fog is not harmful, but it can be a strong cedar aroma if not allowed to dissipate). There is no staining or residue and the room can now be cleaned as usual and inhabited immediately.

Hand Held Sprayer – A hand held sprayer can be used for direct contact with bugs, eggs and larva. Prepare the room as stated above and then use the pump sprayer to saturate affected areas using similar techniques such as prying fabric apart, going up underneath furniture, etc. Adult bed bugs will be dead within a minute whereas eggs and larva may require multiple treatments to ensure contact with Greenbug for People. There is no need to launder Greenbug out of fabrics – just clean the space as usual.

Greenbug’s active ingredient is Cedar oil which is deadly to bed bugs and harmless to humans and beneficial creatures. Cedar aroma causes bugs to shut down their breathing pores and die – it is not a pesticide or a poison but a naturally occurring biological response.

The carrier, or inert ingredient, of Greenbug for People is quartz in its liquid state which coupled with the cedar oil dehydrates the outer shells of eggs and larva causing death.

Greenbug is a killer as well as a repellent. It is recommended to spray Greenbug for People along the sides and top of a mattress, along the headboard, artwork and other furniture near the bed each time you change sheets. This will create a barrier for bed bugs in your sleeping space which is their typical opportunity for a blood meal. This procedure can also be done in hotel rooms, on camping trips, on a cruise, etc. If you suspect a neighboring unit has bed bugs, periodically spray Greenbug for People along base boards, in electrical outlet cavities, along the ceiling, – address any way bed bugs could enter your home. Extent of repellent spraying is determined by the threat level of entry of bed bugs. If there is even the slightest Greenbug aroma, bed bugs will avoid it at all costs!
